Common Ground
Description
Common Ground sits in Pacifico and does the café-plus-accommodation thing properly – bungalows with mosquito nets, a yoga shala running 8am classes with Pam, and two surf spots a short walk from the door. It’s the kind of place people check in for a night and leave three weeks later.
The food is the real reason to show up even if you’re not staying. The shakshuka on homemade sourdough is the move (order the pesto on the side), the caterpillar smoothie bowl is aggressively green and genuinely good, and the pancakes are large enough to share (though you won’t want to). They use local ingredients and actually bake their own bread, which is rarer here than it should be.
Cheapest decent black coffee in Pacifico, big portions, reasonable prices across the board. The dogs hanging around are a bonus or a warning, depending on your feelings about dogs.
Highlights
- Smoothie bowls are large portions and made with quality local ingredients
- Yoga classes are tailored to whoever shows up that morning, not a generic routine
- Food prices are fair for the quality, with the black coffee being the best value on the strip
- Portions are large enough that ordering solo means potential food waste or an unplanned food coma
